Right, I could do with closely examining some painted surfaces, and need to be able to resolve the image down to the point where I can see how the paint lies on the surface, ie. How flat is it, does it have an egg box sort of appearance at close range, is it layered up like sand on a desert sand dune etc.
I understand I will need a stereo microscope to view items that are opaque, but what kind of resolution are we talking? I saw a youtube video of car paint magnified 100x and it was just showing scratches - so I need better magnification than that. Ebay seems to offer digital microscopes upto 400x, but I'm not sure that'll be good enough based on the youtube video.
It doesn't have to be a digital microscope, can anyone advise?
Thanks
