@Bryan Williams Can I ask why you need a breakdown on parts & labour?
Why not?

Personally I ask for a job to be done & ask the total price before committing. I don't need to know how many nuts & bolts they've used. Why not?
Personally I ask for a job to be done & ask the total price before committing. I don't need to know how many nuts & bolts they've used.
I also would get a quote from a few people to get a general idea of what people are charging & go with who I feel happy taking on the job. How someone communicates with me from the beginning indicates how they will be further along the line. I also find places like social media are good to find good trades people. As reviews can't always be reliable & true.
I've been in the trade previously long enough to understand that. Transparency is the important bit! A professional will say it will be X amount. But they will also say going by their experience it could be higher if XYZ doesn't go as it shouldIt's not as easy as that sometimes, things come up & there's a range of unknowns as well as many unscrupulous characters.
Here's an example....clutch and DMF on a BMW X5, let's say for talking sake the parts were £300....and a garage could quite easily ask £700 for labour....you probably wouldn't question that if you didn't know, it's a big BMW after all...
Reality is it's a 4 hour job start to finish.....

Too many amateur outfits don't explain this to the customer & they wonder why the customer gets cheesed off/leaves them a negative review
Just be honest & straight with people
Cam shaft timing is out@doubleboost why does it throw the mil light on after replacing the chain? Seen loads spares or repairs after a chain change always thought it possibly was something to do with the pick up on the chain being in the wrong position... guess it’s more to do with the wear in the other components that don’t get changed?
As blu?
Cam shaft timing is out
The crank shaft angle sensor and the cam shaft position sensor are arguing
They have a variable timing sprocket that is not east to set up
Yes, I agree, it's earnt it's corn, she may have a gud un like you say, I don't think she's been really on top of oil changes but so far so good..
I'll make sure it gets better oil changes in future.. Just got to phrase it right, she's just turned 70 and frets a bit.
