Mezzanine floor

We are working on a building a mezzanine floorat out unit to give us more storage, so far we got in a 8m beam on 2 uprights so next we need a floor, i have seen galv c section used as the beams no real clue on what distance they can span or width setting, i need to span about 3.6m to the next beam.

Looking at the pallet racking I'd suggest you need to look at a design load of 10kN/m^2 unless all those boxes are empty.

What section size is that steel beam ?

Do you want to save height by putting the joists onto the lower flange of the beam ?
How the joists are supported might be your load limiting factor.

Staircase ?

Handrail or wall at the edge ?

What section size is that steel beam ?

Do you want to save height by putting the joists onto the lower flange of the beam ?

The beam is 250 x125 but that is from memory we want to put the joists on the lover flanges on the beams and the stairs are going to the left behind the front beam, there will be a hand rail to stop accidents when we get a bit further along

Heres one I did, the tabs are 60x6 every other joist, 12mm bolts. If I remember correctly 400 centers. Tounge and grove ply floor glued and screwed, to an engineers design.

ours was wood 12x4s beams already in the walls trim them shorter for staircase coming up steel beam both sides with steel beam between them drill and bolt a wood beam to the girder and strap the beams

We got a few c section beams in today and picked up the 22mm T&G floor

The first half is completed now and has taken up loads of things so we have space for the other half
