Have you tried your local autopaint international supplier, they will mix it if you have the code.

Its great stuff. I have several old bikes (mostly Yamahas) and have used it on them but the UK stockists are winding down supplies and don't have the Maroon (its actually purple) in stock.

Yamaha AS3 tank repainted in Metalflake Candy Apple Tangerine (clearcoat not on yet)

Yamaha YCS3E oil tank repainted in RS Motorbike Paint's match for Yamaha Marine Blue

Honda SS50Z K1 tank repainted in Metalflake Candy Apple Red

I have got a full set of brand new USA purple tinware for the CS3 but can't find a oil tank so need the paint to re-do an old one to match

That looks a great site but the problem seems to be that the Yamaha paint codes don't mean anything in real terms. The paint suppliers need a RAL number or similar whereas the 60s/70s Yamaha paint code was just a part number code really. The one is need is Yamaha code 34 but I don't think a modern UK paint supplier could do anything with that number on its own.

I have actually used these guys and have amended the caption of the blue oil tank accordingly as I forgot I got the blue from them! (because I also bought a blue from Metalflake). RS paints are very expensive also.

They don't currently have the Yamaha purple that I am after but do two other Yamaha purples and being of an untrusting nature I am wary about ordering my colour and getting one of their other ones.

If i can't get the metalflake stuff within the next few months however I will send them one of my NOS parts to match from as that is their preferred system rather than matching by paint code no.

These are pictures of my NOS parts next to the paint chip chart from Metalflake. The one I think matches best is the one right next to the nose of the fork shroud.

looks pretty close despite my colour blindness but checked with a woman who definitely isn't colour blind (like lost guys) and she agreed.

I think 'metalflake' is the brand name of the paint he is looking for.

Yeah, that is a bit confusing...

Metalflake Corp are the makers and they sell various ranges such as Candy Apple, Metalflake, FlipFlop. Glowble and so on

Interestingly they have a letter R in a circle (registered trade mark thing) next to all the names (including Metalflake) apart from Candy Apple so I guess they can't claim the patent for that one.

I bought all the stuff in my first picture from the company you put the links in for and they have recently updated their site to show all their pages down to how many tins they have of each but they don't have one tin of the Maroon despite having like 11 tins of some of the other candy colours I got my recent tins from them for about £10 each or something as they aren't re-stocking once they run out so if you want some now is a good time to approach them.

Just when I was about to give up and go down the colour matching route I found this on Ebay

Now, the seller doesn't claim that it is Metalflake brand paint or allude to it in any way but the list of available colours in the listing exactly matches the 20 or so Metalflake colours so I took a chance on it.

It arrived today and I won't know if it is a good match for the Yamaha shade until the oil tank is sprayed but it looks good at first sight.

Oval paints' 'candyapple toner' uses same colour codes as Metalflake brand

colour seems to be close to NOS part

and again under different flash setting
