As far as I am aware metalcraft have a SET discount for forum members, the extra discount I got was NOT thru Metalcraft

The thread is about a cracking piece of equipment that is one of the best on the market. Appreciate it for what it is not what it's worth.

It strikes me this place bitches about the slightest thing

People make me laugh when they have bought the same thing as you from the same shop and they find out you bought it cheaper because you had the cahonies to ask for a better prices. You've either got it or you ain't

I also think it can loose them sales ,Some people believe or not are a little shy and do not like to haggle it makes them feel uncomfortable .
I also think the price is a little high especially if you are an hobbier and can't claim tax back.
Where as if you got it at the haggle price that some folks get it would be a better proposition.
But that's life I'm afraid two tier systems ?

You can't start a post about a company and it's products, highlighting the pricing and then complain if further relevant comments don't suit you, if you read my contributions to this post you will see I highly praise the equipment, I and any other member also have the right to comment regarding the cost and their marketing methods, that is not bitching.

In fact personally I have praised Metalcraft products several times over the years.

Please refrain from telling other members to shut up.

I am bemused. It's a bit confusing as I thought the forum existed to inform and help members. Why tell us you get extra discount if we can't access it. A suspicious person might ask if you have the extra discount to promote their products.

That said I know what it's like to be accused of mentioning a company and having an ulterior motive, when in fact I paid the same price as any other member of the public.

Good luck to you for your bargain. If you don't want to share where you got your extra discount or what you paid that's fine. But I don't think we are whinging, just trying to see if metal craft tools become more affordable no matter how desirable they are.

I 'm interested ,I'd like to treat meself to a new toy ...I found a company in Austria that supply metalcraft gear in Europe quoted me £1269.99 for the XL5 +option packs with free delivery to Greece how does that compare with the UK price ...and then I dug alittle deeper and found this

That tooling appears to be a copy of Metalcraft, they may have the overseas licence for the design but I very much doubt it.

If copied exactly then it should be as good as Metalcraft but unless there is a massive difference in price I would stick to the original company, tested and proven over many years.

From my experiences I have found that manufacturers will supply their dealers at around half retail price or even less, Really good deals can be had using the right approach,

Yeah, So how does the price Eisenkraft quote for the metalcraft XL5 +all options £1269.99 quote compare with the UK price ? I've never seen (in the flesh) any metalcraft stuff but Eisenkraft gear looks good . I have asked them for some prices of their own gear.
As I've got to buy it through them any way ....jeff

Pricy but quality. I would love to get hold of the cheapo copies off fleabay and see how they compare in action.

No its a direct result of the marketing though doubt I ever will until they produce a product and put it out on sale at a firm given price open to all some of thier stuff looks like it could be useful. Shame really

Haggle every time, in general us brits are frightened to ask for discount or haggle.

Well haggle has it's place ,when I've worked on art projects with little or no funding you end up begging on the phone to get the best deal on materials ,and I have been totaly amazed at the discounts some companies can come up with when you talk about a few theatre tickets or a line or two in the programe ....jeff....

Although relevant, I think there has been enough said re haggling etc and it is taking us away from the tooling itself, obviously we are all keen to know the cost and it would have been nice if the OP felt able to let us know but we have to respect his privacy.

The simple answer is to phone the firm and find out what the best forum discount is.

Can we please now concentrate on the tools themselves and the benefit of owning them, especially as other members appear interested in owning similar.

It is a very capable tool and even though Chunkolini has in the past shown some of his well admired work done with the aid of the powerbender, I suspect it is only a fraction of what can be achieved, especially with the full kit of add on's.

I for one am keen to see the ops first and continual use and his feedback on what he has bought, by doing so it will allow other's to judge the practicality of owning such a tool.

I am in no way new to business though. One thing I do know though is to haggle is fine but to come in high expecting a haggle will only lead to one winner and it won't be the buyer. Ever noticed the demise of the half price double glazing
