metal work magazines?

Everytime I go into WH Smiths I am amazed by the amount of woodworking magazines. I enjoy a bit of woodwork as much as the next man but alot of them seem really dull. How come there isnt a single metal working magazine?? I would have thought that there are enough people interested in it. Obviously the whole print media being killed by the internet doesnt help and turning a profit on magazines seems quite hard.
I always enjoy a good read through of the metal bits in Practical classics and Back Street Heroes. Now if they could just stick them together in a metal only magazine.

There is a mag called Model Engineer but it only covers as the title suggests. I think there is an engineering title in the USA.

There's also Model Engineers Workshop, which covers as the name suggests tools and techniques so has a wider audience; everything from electronics through exotica like electrodischarge machining to welding.

There is also engineering in minature , pretty much a modelling magazine too.

Bought one or two Model Engineers Workshop mags - okay but hit the lighter end of the hobby. Also, they do seem to serialise a lot of their articles, making it a bit harder to just buy an issue here and there. Their website and forum is very good imho.

I'm probably being patronising here, but that's what a magazine is for; they want you to buy a subscription.

That's fine Penfold, but some (most?) magazines you can be a casual reader and pick up the odd issue, MEW probably leans more towards needing to buy regularly to keep track of several of the articles in any given issue.

I guess to an extent it's a carryover from ME; the build series in ME can run for a year+ for the complicated models.

Anyone ever read Make magazine? Thats a good one but I always found it quite hard to locate. not sure if its still going. ill have to have a look.
