Been asked to make a lamp, the shade is basically a large metal tin- similar to the mini 5litre beer kegs, mounted on wooden tripod affair.
The light fitting its self is undecided yet, but im thinking put the hole in the end of the tin, and use one of these or very similar. Effectivly mounted as a lampshade would be.
Does this need to be earthed if I use that setup? Obviously it becomes a pain to earth neatly using tht method.
But if I change the lamp holder, and have say a batten lamp holder fixed inside, with the cable exiting through the back of the tin (through a gland) that method should then be earthed because the wiring has potential to contact the metal inside...?
