If you look what it says on the can to clean up with, that is what you should use for thinning it.

I think people have previously mentioned using cellulose thinners with it. I did our gates with it, but much prefer the one that comes in the aerosols. I found the tinned paint translucent, even though I thought I'd stirred it thoroughly. Obviously the tinned is far cheaper, and the aerosols would be way too expensive for what you need to do.

purchased 2 tins of the aldi stuff on sunday - was reduced to £3.50 a can.

1ltr cans too - so thats about £30 worth in hammerite terms (750ml tins)

All the Aldis near me sell out quick of the black - must be the farmers. It just occurred to me that I can snap up the tail-ends and make a passable murky colour if it's only to spray shelving, etc.
