so, just got back from the mot. they didn't fail it on the broken O/S sill, or the crumpled N/S sill, or the broken engine mount casting, or the exhaust blowing from the back, or the O/S cv boot being loose, or the N/S lower arm bush being split, or there being excess play in the ball joint on the same arm...no, they didn't even put those down as advisories.
what they did do, however, was fail it on a blown side light...
I was honestly expecting a list as long as my arm, but no, one item, front position light not working.
so apparently, for a car to be safe on the british roads you just need a side light, everything else is pointless and un-important
