Bit of a saga this one, college where i used to work bought this about ten years ago for light & electronics work, Meddings Flott drill is a variable speed drill with speed variable from 500 to 3000rpm, pretty sure they were made in Germany.
It went wrong & several people had a go at it & failed to get it going. When the workshop was shut it got chucked in a skip from where i "rescued" it. It has a sensor on the motor shaft & it was filthy with carbon soot from the brushes, quick clean & away it went.
After a year or so it failed again this time it would start rev up then stop. I gave up & havent looked at it for two years but this afternoon my son & i had a look, Data cable from the circuit board had frayed on a casting & severed one of the control wires. Fixed it & it worked! Put it back together & tried it again. Pop goes the trip & its dead again.
After dinner I go & have another look with circuit board out, get the magnifier out & find a broken joint on a power supply part, solder it up & its a runner! Got there eventually!
