Meaco Zambezi dehumidifier on the blink.

My Meaco dehumidifier thinks I've relocated to Alice Springs I think.
I switched it on in the evening the day before yesterday and all was fine. Switched it on yesterday morning and according to the display it's 37% humidity and 50°C so nothing happens when switched on.
It does still work in laundry mode and according to the manual I should clean the filter and/or the sensor. The manual doesn't tell me where the sensor is.
I guess it's behind that rectangular bit behind the filter as in the picture.
The filter wasn't dirty and the small circuit board that's behind that rectangular bit looked clean as well, but I blew it all out with compressed air.
Made no difference. Does anyone have any tips I could try besides calling customer service for warranty?

On the old ones (single knob), the sensor was a piece of cellophane tape (looking) spanned across a box type thing.

if you see something like that, I think you are supposed to carefully wipe it clean.
