Took the paint off down to alloy and am now in the process of buffering polish stage with the mops and soap blocks(hard work this ).

When I have polished em to a mirror finish I need to protect em from the elements,I thought beeswax em a few times over a couple of weeks for protective coat,any suggestions for protecting em other than the beeswaxing.

Got beeswax bars,the real stuff.

Used a brass wire wheel to get it like this below......

To get the paint off I used a paint stripper that someone on here happened upon on the internet......

the paint was provin to be a right booger to shift but the stuff above was no match for it.

Anyway once the paint was off it took less than an hour(only cos I'm a lazy sod and have more tea breaks than tetley),with the brass wire brush to get the blemishes and pitting out otherwise if the alloy was blemish free it would have been straight in with the polish mops..

what equiptment are you using? i want to do a set of car alloys. but dont no what equiptment to buy

The brass wire brushes I got from Aldi a while ago,and the mops with soap bars I got from Toolstation.

ebay has the bigger bars of soap.

Basically if your alloys have not been painted? then alls it takes is the mop polishing.

If they're pitted with the weather? then a fine sanding with the finest emery cloth you can get and then mop polishing.

I'm almost done on the mop polishing and will post a pic maybe tomorrow?

The only reason I used the brass wheels is because the alloys where badly pitted with some greyish pitting,I could have used emery cloth grades from rough to smooth but thats a lot of elbow grease time.

Yeah,someone said they tried that and the course of the roads and weather knackered it.

The problem with lacquer bit staying on us that it needs a tooth to adhere, by polishing you will have made it to smooth so tooth available.
There are chemical coatings around like Zoops seal but they ain't cheap

Don't use Solvol as it scratches because its abrasive ( should never be used on chrome either)
Best stuff to use is mothers mag alloy polish or meguirs

Solvol,I was gonna apply it and then buffer it off to get the shine.

That zoop seal is american,any other stuff in the UK?

Solvol works because it's abrasive, I used to use that or another cleaner called Peek. They don't leave bad scratches but you can see swirls if you look close. I also used cutting paste or compound like Farecla G3 or Upol 333 on the Locost bodywork.
