Hi,
I have a Maypole Maxi Mig 100 that has served me well for the last 3 years but has now developed a fault. It powers up and feeds wire a normal but wont strike an arc, can anyone shed any light on the problem or point me in the direction of a wiring diagram?
Pretty much any MIG wiring diagram would do to check out the high-current side of things, the basic switched-transformer-winding design has been used for decades... it's only if you need to check out the control electronics (if it has any! ) that it gets a bit more involved.
If the arc's not strking and you've ruled out poor connections to the earth return lead and the torch itself then you likely have a blown rectifier or something has died on the transformer primary side (main contactor not pulling-in, open-cct. winding etc.) - I imagine you've tried every switch setting for the output current?
