Maxi 180?

Hello guys im new here so take it easy with me lol
I have a Cebora 155 mig which is brilliant i have no problems with it but i have just bought another mig welder which is a lot bigger in size and is yellow. It says Maxi 180 on one side and Multi-Mig on the other (on the front it reads Areation Force, Mig Mag).
Does anyone know what make this is??? it has an third dial on the front that has a square wave next it like a digital signal sign, what is this for?
I replaced the wire and tip and tried welding with it. it does weld but very nastily and splatters an awful lot!

So...what make is it, what is the extra dial for and how do i make it weld nice?

It looks like a better built old welder.
The simplest thing that can cause the problem you describe,is running a welder on an extension cord.
Using too large of a tip will sometimes cause problems,and having an irregular speed of wire feed will cause problems.

okay thanks Robert. i put a new 0.8mm tip on it and the wire is 0.8
how could i tell if it has an irregular wire feed?

can you guys have a look at the pictures. what you think about the earth clamp and what is the dial for? (second one down - square sine wave under it)
and waht make actually is it?

The earth clamp looks like a great big 600 amp one you'd expect to see on a heavy industrial arc welder. I'd guess the original was damaged and that was one lying around spare The clip type ones are a fiver or less and I'm sure you'd find it handier, as by the look of it, this welder only goes up to 180A anyway.

The dial with the pulse waveform is spot welding. It will turn on the unit for a short time as set by the dial each time the trigger is pressed.
