max / min metal question

I've just had a welder off a mate cause he"accidentally" threw my Cebora 130.
Its a 160..not sure of the make tbh.
I'm just wondering the sizes of metal it will do with co2 as the gas and .8 wire.
Basically, is it any good?

Dosen't look too bad, Eurotorh and proper casters! It will do about 5mm safely with decent penetration

Hmmm.
We had some spare 6mm knocking about so i decided to put the new earth clamp on and sick 2 lumps together.
I made a "v" and put them about 1mm apart and went to run a root.
I put the welder on full power and made a start but after a few seconds the wire stuck and the fuse blew in the plug.
Did i do something wrong?

Above 130A, it will need more than a 13A plug.

You can push to about 150a with a normal plug and socket. but not for long periods. A decent quality fuse and plug helps.

wire up a 16 amp socket and get a 16 amp plug on it.

I need to be able shift it round so will make do. Bigger stuff ill just try get to a work and use the big hitter
