Matt black Stove paint

Hi all,
Just looking for any recommendations for stove enamel/paint for my gas bottle wood burners.
I made one a couple of years ago but I can't remember where I found the paint, which was pretty crap anyway to be honest. Finished another one for a mate last week so wouldn't mind a recomendation for a decent brush on coating.

I have had some from ebay, ok up to 650c, pricey stuff. has anybody got a recipe for a DIY mixture to do the same job?

I recoat our stoves every year with clearview stove paint spray.

Other than going with traditional type stove black recipes, you're stuck with the expensive paints. For the traditional stuff, Linseed oil, graphite and lamp, (carbon), black.

Funny that I just replied to another thread. Hotspot stove paint is what you want from the range. It covers in one coat! Its mint with two coats. I buy it in 5 litres but its expensive.......and I have to get it from the factory.

When i was working, we mixed our own jointing mixture for high pressure steam turbine split-lines, Consisted of triple boiled linseed oil,graphite flake and a compound called Manganesite,. Sealed 2000psi steam @ around 1000 degrees F. Worked every time.

That probably explains why the Linseed and graphite mix was sometimes used on the steam engine coal boxes. The ingredients were already to hand if that was used in a sealing mix too.
