Masonary paint sprayer?

Our house needs repainting. It's a tyrolean surface in a lot of places. Some is render that's been put on and then used a tyrolean hand flicker with a concrete slurry to make the texture match. It's a nightmare to paint with a brush.

I've never sprayed masonry paint. (I'm not that good spraying car paints either, but I figure spraying this place is going to save a lot of time.

Can anyone recommend a decent sprayer? If possible under £200.

How thin or thick is the paint? Can it be thinned? If theres no lumps in it or you can filter it then should be able to use a Fakita sprayer. I use it for fence paint, tho fence paint does need a 3-4:1 dilution with water.

Its going to take forever to do this place by hand. It's not small. Hence the question about sprayers and whether they would be quicker.

That is pretty quick.

I'm using sandtex standard masonry paint so it's pretty thick from the pot. I expect it could be thinned and just more coats.

spray to a degree would cause plenty of overlapping with pebble dash stuff hence the reason to use a long bristle brush and blather it on

It needs to be quite thin for this to work, the motor/fan in them is only a low power type.

To spray really thick stuff you can use a compressor and a 2.5mm nozzle spraygun. A cheapy spraygun will do fine but its a bit of a pain with compressor and hoses.

On amazon, Ani had a cheapy 2.5 nozzle gun for £20 or so.

Have you looked at the cost of hiring a suitable spray set-up?, after all it won't be needed for another 10+ years.

Look up Wagner airless sprayers.
Make sure it is spotless when leaving.
We spray white cement on blockwork a cream consistency.
Hire one.
We clean them then do it again and again
They are a pain to clean

just buy a genuine sheeps wool roller, aint cheap and gets very heavy when full of paint but it will work well....then cut in with a 4"brush....
buy a decent ally or glass fiber pole...
Thats all I ever used long before airless sprayers were on the DIY market...
masking and overspray will slow the job down plus the cleaning of the kit is a nightmare........
I never let down the paint, just load the roller....
my basic kit is over 20 years old now...if u take care and super clean the roller it will last at least 2 application on ur rough wall.s...
looked into a spray kit and I can buy a lot of rollers for £2500, for a decent kit.....
at 76 getting to the point where I need to pay somebody to do it for me....parts of my place are 3 stories tall...
Just set urself up to complete 1 or 2 walls per day and ur doing v well...
painters make it look easy but it's hard work.........to do a full repaint I need 30ltrs.....

It had nozzles for spraying masonry paint as well, i didn't use it as there were a lot of neighbouring cars.

@reb78 I tried Dulux weathershield (massively watered down) through an airless sprayer setup and it was useless.

The limewash (which is very watery) went through a hopper gun as @wyn said and also a Vevor pressure pot system. They both have large nozzles (I think 4mm or 6mm) so would handle masonry paint quite happily. The hopper was about £30 off ebay and pressure pot I paid about £65 at the time.

I'd say get the pressure pot, it's not much and just get on with it.

These hopper fed guns are the mutts nuts, you don’t need to thin the paint, virtually no overspray because it gags it onto the wall. I used a piece of handheld hardboard as a fence rather than masking up, works very well, I would recommend pointing it at a piece of ply first to get the settings prior to spraying a wall.

Masonry paint, when sprayed, will tend to go everywhere!!!
