Masking Paper dispenser plans

Hi all

I'm new here so first off hello, I have been reading bits on pieces on the forum and site for some time, so it's bout time i contributed a little!

I have a SIP 15O Mig which I have carried out some of the fixes on here for



My question is i'd like to build a simple masking paper dispenser, I'm sure it can't be too hard, just wondered if anybody had build one before/had any pics they could show me?

Is the masking paper on rolls about a metre wide?

I did a car bodywork repair course at college a few years back, well about 18 years back, and they had a nice rig that held brown paper on a top roll and 'plastic' sheet that opened out to 2mtr wide on the bottom roll.

I recall a tray too, that had odd tools, like stanley knives and rolls of masking tape, etc.

It shouldn't be too hard to design something similar.

Maybe it'd be a good start to do a search around the internet to see what's available to buy and start with a basic copy of that?

Yes these were my thought I just couldn't find alot in the way of useful pics

I Only really wanted something for a single roll, with a cutting blade/tear off and a bit were the masking tape sticks to the edge of the roll, but I don't know how to do that bit either!

Hi,

yes, or you could start with a 'blackboard' or 'artists' easel but not so high and add hooks to each side so you can drop rollers in.

Something like a pair of 'A' frames tied together with cross rails, perhaps?

Something with a slot to pull the paper through and a couple of hacksaw blades to tear off against and leave an end to get hold of next time. Have a look in the kitchen at the foil holder then make something correspondingly bigger.

Make up something like a parcel tape dispenser gun? Maybe you could use the ready made one but I suppose that would spoil the fun with your project. Oooops, sorry its a paper dispenser not a masking tape dispenser. "We all make mistakes" said the hedgehog to the scrubbing brush.
