Anyone tried to cut this? about 8 to 10mm thick.

I was given 50 stair spindles and I'm making side lamp tables,standing about 3ft high and about 14" square.

Was thinking of an marble insert in the table top which will be softwood?.

Will a mains circular tile cutter cut marble?

They cut marble tiles okay so I don't see why not.

You need a proper diamond blade to marble and ideally water as a coolant. My friend is a stonemason and they cut this all the time. A solid lump of marble is very different from a tile.

You should have seen the work that went into cutting my fireplace for the wood burner....

I could be very wrong here as I've never done it, but I seem to remember looking into it once, and I was told that an ordinary hacksaw would cut it ok. If that is the case, then maybe a fine blade in a jigsaw would do it?

Sawing the slabs/rocks is generally done with water quenched bandsaw type machinery, is it not, so can't see why it wouldn't work. As always though, there's a simple way to find out.

As stone materials go marble is as soft as poo.

any middle of the road diamond cutting blade will wizz through that..its only rock at the end of the day and not really hard at that.Same thing for Granite worktops too

Water and any of the cheap diamond blades for an angle grinder. Cheap from lidl Aldi etc.

Just shown this to my stonemason friend. He is laughing in his beer..... thinks you are mad!!

He would cut it with 9" diamond blade if in the field or a water cooled stone cutting saw in the workshop.
