MAN TGE 3.140, bleeding coolant message on dash

My works van, a 22 plate TGE 3.140, 42000 miles, was parked up for 2 weeks, I was on holiday. Got into it the other morning and when turning on ignition, the following message came up on dash,

Bleeding coolant... Vehicle wallet...

The coolant level is fine. Never had to top it up. Now every time you turn ignition on the message comes up, with a red warning symbol. If you start engine it goes off after a few moments.

The heater control , has been set to cold for last six months. Turned it to hot, to let it circulate through matrix, but warning still appearing.
Has anyone came across this before?

If it's anything like the vws,
They have auxiliary electeic water pumps. If air gets in the pump (or the pump is gojng faulty) they spin faster. The ecu detects the lower current draw and the bleeding coolant message comes up.
On those you just loosen/remove the filler cap and turn the Ingition on for 5mins (without the engine running)

Edit, during that time you can hear the little pump running. If it's not running smoothly (and there is no air in the system) that's time to replace the pump before the egr cooler cracks!

Not come across it personally.

What's the coolant level like?

As i understand it's linked to low coolant, remove the cap, top up coolant if needed, then leave ignition on (engine off) for around 5 mins for the auxiliary coolant pump to run and bleed the system.

Those engines have unbelieveably complicated cooling systems.

I'd expect a separate message for low coolant.
You could try draining some out to see if that warning comes on.
Look through the lid of the header tank and you might be able to see the level sensor

The coolant level is fine. It has never moved, from where it normally is.
