Makita orbital sander

I am after a 150mm orbital sander that will last and not send my hands numb, I saw the makita BO6030 for just over £100 has anybody got any feed back on how it is? Thanks

I have the 5030 model without the metal base and its a really good tool, it also have variable speed control. I dont know how heavy it is but i think you will loose the dust collection atachament pretty quuckly... They do get in the way. What you need it for? Mine is quite big and wont go in small corners however they also do a palm sized one which is very handy...

I have wht is called a 1/2 sheet orbital and a palm sander.......still running after years of good service......parts still available.......
the 1/2 sheet sander is a monster, I can only use it on flat stuff now......Arthritus.......

I have a Metabo SXE 450 and it is a really nice snader with a selectable orbit (a smaller orbit for fine sanding or a larger orbit for quick stock removal) and it is a nice bit of kit.

However, vibration levels in all of the reasonable quality 6" sanders is going to be quite high and I doubt any of them are rated for prolonged use.

What's it for?

I can wholeheartedly recommend a mirka electric, like a Ceros, used it on cars and wood but mostly for plaster sanding in the house.. also a bit of polishing though it's not really got the grunt for that.

You can sand all day long with it and feel absolutely nothing in your hands after.

It's also got an external power supply so the sander itself is only as big as a pneumatic one.

Downside is that it's not cheap. Power supply failed outside warranty on mine too sadly, I've had it about 6 years, mirka wanted a fortune for it so I just run it from a generic Chinese power supply now.

I also have a mirka, a Deos electric and it's the beat sander Ive used.
Use it with the mirka Abranet mesh sand paper and you will not be disappointed.
Even on offer it wasn't cheap but if it broke I would replace it with the same sander.
Variable speed is also a great addition

I need it for wood mainly but large areas and i have a budget of around £100...i just looked at the mirka electric one and they do look good but the price killed it, The main problem i have is that other people will be using this and they do not respect tools so well.

Buy yourself a mirka or festool and buy them some silverline sanders.

I have gone for the makita BO6030 as i need it for Saturday, I have a mirka air powered sander but i never let anyone else use it.
