Makita 18v staple gun

Does any one use one, I need a staple gun that can staple plastic and thin aluminium to wood.

I have the 12v milwaukee it's absolutely crap, even thin plastic it just puts a v in the staple and makes a mess

The xt makita says upto 22mm staples @1mm, the milwaukee only goes to 15mm and it struggles at that in wood alone.

I could go to the rounded head staples but need to be wide crown not narrow, narrow bites into aluminium too much.

Any real world user opinions, price ain't an issue but I don't want to go air route if I can at all avoid it

I’d get your Mikwaukee looked at. I have the same and last used by my wife for putting up bamboo screening. It was firing through the bamboo with ease until I informed her that she need only staple the wire.

No its just gutless it will fire into lots of things but not the things I want and if you do that it just kills the staple, I've tried another it was the same.

Is it the staples? I’ve got Arrow and Tacwise, no problem with either

I went from tacwise to arrow still same, it will fire the shorter tacwise pointed staples but they are not long enough to hold.

When I recovered my motorcycle seat I was using a cheap hand operated type and they wouldnt go half in. I had to get it done that day, sharpened the staples on bench grinder. The force needed was much lower and went in easy, only took a minute or two, may help.

Point does make a difference but I will go through hundreds, I had a mains powered one for years it was great, it died, replaced it with another mains unit, that was crap, replaced that with milwaukee and that was crap, they don't do a 18v one either, I have a small target area so tack hammer out.

Could open it up and add more preload or a stiffer spring?

I have no idea what powers the m12 staple gun, it may be a small version of the air cartridge that they use on bigger guns. The stapler mechanism seems to be the issue.

Will just bite the bullet and try the makita if I can't find anything else.

No idea to the answer to your question but it got me looking at the milwaukee stapler.
I have a question to ask myself, reding the specs it takes 3/8 crown staples or T50 staples, is this the same as 71 series or is that a different sizing?
Reason is I do car upholstery and we use 71 series staples, 3mm to 12mm and a cordless stapler would be a nifty tool to own, I already have m12 milwaukee gear.

T50 staples are wide square edge type quick Google says 71 are medium width, it's fine for upholstery the daughter borrowed it to do her seats
