making wirefeeder

I have an Lincoln idealarc dc 400 that i got very cheap from a friend.
Wirefeeders are expensive so I wondered making a feeder from my old esab mig, feeder and gas solenoid are ok, does this sounds like a good idea ?

I'd give it a go, you've got nothing to loose.

Should not be hard to do. If you can get the old feeder to work by itself, then it is just a matter of connecting a relay output to the DC400.

The DC400 is constant voltage?
