Making ‘artificial’ front end wafer tractor weighs

I am buying another vintage tractor and I think it would look cool with a set of artificial wafer weights on front
A full set of proper weights will be 400kg at least
An artificial set will be maybe 40 kg
I have an idea of making a ‘skeleton’ of
10mm round bar then filling with fibre glass
Perhaps some one has done something similar

Do them out of sheet steel, angle grinder on the seams, will look the part.

Plasma cut out the sides and a piece of 1.5-2mm sheet folded around the side

Steel is roughly 2.9 times as dense as aluminium. The stated requirement is a 90% reduction (a factor of 10).

It's a bit tight in the crotch but the mask fits a treat thanks

Not a bad idea. They printed a mock BSA (?) bike engine I seem to recall on Vintage Voltage.

Perhaps a few thin gauge pieces of tubing in the mold to create air pockets.

This is what I would do. I have a timber door on one of my machines which looks like a cast iron door and you cannot tell without getting hold of it.

yea if you have a massive crucible a big furnace and some massive burners and a stack of ally

If it’s going to be completely encapsulated and sealed in epoxy then why not just OSB?

Old kitchen worktop glued back to back and cut to shape.

Made out of box section the right thickness. You'll only need to infill the two outer ones.

Anything like this that is a lot lighter will need to be fully welded/bolted though!
