Making a torsion spring.

Will welcome any advice on making a kick start return spring for a vintage Lawnmower . One end to hook under the kick pedal arm and the other round a stud on the back plate. At the worst it can be badged with a tension spring but it would be nice to reproduce the original.

A bungee strap always worked on bikes with broken springs. My Hardley had a bungee on it for a few years;-)

Slightly OT, was it CZ's that had a dual function lever, gearshift which you push in and rotate then it becomes the kickstart?.
