making a blast cabinet

Hi so after some thinking etc i've decided to build a blast cabinet

So here are the products

Blast gun

All together for these is £32.92 but i could probably get it down abit.

The material i was going to use is plywood, ive seen the big ones but i still want a table top one

Only problem i have is what to do for the dust and particles, do i use a hoover or couldi use a pipe with loft instulation and then a vent on the end or something????

Line the plywood with sheet steel, unpainted. It will stop sawdust getting in your grit and reflect light. Unpainted so you don't get paint on your new shiny bits if you catch them on the walls.

You need a high flow dust extractor with a 25 micron bag, a vacuum cleaner will be very noisy.

Allow air to get into the cabinet as you need a good flow to carry the dust away.

anyother extracting systems, also does the extractor collect all the rubbish etc should i use a plate above the hopper to collect residue???? and also should the hopper be inside or outside in a bucket?????

For a bench mounted unit you want to suck everything out and collect it outside in the filter, sieve it and return it to the hopper.

so is it worth sieving bicarb from tesco's 80p 1kg ??? or just buy new

What are you going to be blasting?

For the amounts you need look on Ebay, 80p/Kg sounds expensive.

cylinder heads
pistons maybe cylinders
rims
heat exchangers etc

Also if you look at the gun i know it comes with spare nozzles but what other nozzles do you reckon wil fit

Really you'll find that gun will need quite a lot of air, if you can run to it, you'd be better off using a pressure pot.

Have a good look through the Compressed Air Forum, there are several home-made cabinets and blast pots described.
