How easy/ effective are they if you're forced to work in an awkward or confined space, e.g. under a car or tight space under- bonnet, rather than on a bench as in the video?

Got details or yours? Would make a nice project.

I made one of those a while ago, it works well on the bench, never used it in anger though. There was an advert for one somewhere, so I made my own

It’s not the easiest of tools to use in a confined space, I must say. There’s plenty on utoob.

there was a thread a while back on these , i made one

not a bad thing to have around , but yeah works better on the bench than under a car or in a tight engine bay , nice you can use stainless wire so it doesnt rust

I tried it with mig wire, it doesn't work, it's too springy. It worked fine with garden wire though, not got any stainless to try it.

I use one of those. My "tool" is a very complicated thing;-)
I got a small triangle of scrap, drilled a 1/4 hole in it, then drilled two holes in a 1/4" bolt.
I use .028" lock wire, I have used stainless mig wire.

I'd imagine the wire 'clips' would be pretty difficult/impossible to undo - short of cutting through the hose?

Far from perfect, but at least jubilee type clips can be re-used.

I'd imagine they would be good for joining airlines etc, with a bit of heatshrink or tape over the join you'd have a joint that doesn't scratch or snag on anything as you drag it around.

Ey, think I posted one made from a bit of ali tube. The nose was too fat.

Mine's made from a couple of bits of scrap, but I had to buy a wingnut...

If you prise up the folded-down ends (I curve 'em a bit to make it easy and the ends not stab me) it releases and you can unwrap it in a couple of seconds - quicker than a Jubilee, but awkward in awkward spots all the same.
Bodgeit and Quit sell rolls of stainless lockwire for about a fiver...

They do make a very neat clamp. A bit of heat skrink over the top just finishes it off
