Main engine ground, Mk7 transit?.

Hello all.

Working on a Mk7 Transit 2010 minibus 2.2d.

It has had a PCM failure (have removed casing after no CanBus connection and it's fried).

Nobody seems to know what caused it although it has had an attempted Jump start apparently..

I have managed to code a 2nd hand PCM in with FORScan but Ideall would like to find the cause of the original failure.

There are two earth points on the O/S inner wing under fusebox, is the thick one for the engine and gearbox earth?.

Are there any other earths / grounds for the engine block?.

Haven't crawled under it yet but would like an idea of where to look first lol.

Yes, nobody is forthcoming with any info though so I have to assume it was the busses fault..

Just trying to cover all bases.

Bit annoying really as all it wanted was a new pair of batteries.

To make matters worse local key company came round and managed to wipe the keys out of the BCM (PATS) and charge them £120 for the pleasure..

Main earth goes under one of the starter bolts, but can't remember where the other end goes.

Given it failed after a jump start attempt, I'd guess somebody put something somewhere they shouldn't.

The PCMs arr generally 24v proof, but will trigger a fault code.

Did a voltage test across the engine and body while cranking and it came out around 0.3v so I would say that's acceptable.

Got it running on the 2nd hand pcm, need to do fuel injection coding and pilot learn I think.

The instrument panel has no miles now so I'll have to look onto that (possibly on trip mileage but I'm not normally that lucky).

Saw exactly same damage while looking for lack of CanBus communication and they said that had happened after jumpstarting..

The lack of miles on the instruments is because the pcm, bcm and instrument cluster have different numbers stored.

There should be a backup of the bcm configuration and current mileage in the instrument cluster.

Normal sequence for pcm settings is code the injectors, then pump learn then injector learn - assuming it's Denso. Bosch might be different.

It's original BCM and IPC. Do I need to write mileage into the PCM?.

I've not seen a make on the PCM, just FoMoCo (don't know if Ford make some of their own PCM's?).
