As part of my spring clean (late for this year but early for next) I've found some bits of stainless that I had long forgotten about. I took these along with some other materials as part of a debt payment. The bits are I assume stainless but of the magnetic variety. I rarely use anything stainless except nuts and bolts and have had a read-up about some of its properties when compared to the non magnetic type. Two questions if I may.
1. Is there anything else this could reasonably be other than magnetic stainless steel?
2. Will it weld using something like a 316 arc rod ? If I use the bits and need to weld to them then I don't want to be buying expensive packets of rods etc .
Staining on them is just where they have been near mild steel.
