seen them on e-bay wondering if worth getting one.

I have one and they are strong little sods, I have to move mine quite a lot with the work I do and it gets on my nerves, they also pick up every bit of swarf and weld splatter...they are good but have their downfalls.

You can get the magnetic ones that you can turn on and off very handy but i have only seen them for sale in the states

No you need the flexible magnetic strips from 'fridge door seal for that Paul. Got several in the workshop to hold plans, lists, & jottings!

You could always put them in a plastic bag to stop the swarf
