Did you get them from Jody at weldmonger? I am seriously struggling to get even a price from stronghand tools for a whole heap of clamps and fixture parts for my new bench. Or were? I have phoned Clwyd Welding supplies and they have promised my over 4 times now to supply some prices and SWP don't honestly care other than passing my details to their rep twice and for him / her to never call me back.
I might be a mag clamp convert in the making after buying my first a few weeks ago, for me though it has to be on / off type as I have black iron and grinding dust in large quantities even sweeping up at the end of each day the always sticky ones would soon resemble metal hedgehogs
@Kent: they look to be available here, but I have no idea if that's a good price

Thats not too bad but more than I paid
It does with DC MMA, it's horrible! There's one thing I've always wondered with them, when you're welding something small and close to the magnet, does it make the arc pull towards it?

Sorry should of explained better. I am after the 16mm dia toggle clamps etc they do for the build pro tables and the risers etc, etc. You see I made my own bench bigger stronger and a darn site cheaper than the build pro sells for. I have a policy of only buying from abroad when I cant get it here or if i feel I am at the wrong end of a shaft, looks like its going to have to be that or make my own though.
Reason I try not to send money abroad is non of it comes back into our economy, yes I know its all imported but the uk distributor buys in large bulk and makes a cut that usually ends up staying on our shores. SWP were quite frank about telling me they didn't do much and just got it in as and when in smaller quantities though.
I will link through the strong hand site in the States and talk to one of their distributers shortly but its not like some of the stuff is too hard to make so once I finish what I am on with will have to make a decision.
Perhaps I should set up as a UK distributor?
Yeah, you will be a millionaire come Xmas![]()
hardly but it makes you wonder if things are so easy to sell you don't need to even tell customers how much and give them a chance to spend money with you. On place said they had a container at customs presently. I do like how American businesses actually realise every day is a new one and have no god given right to last the course if they slack off
I deal with Americans every day of the week and some will fall over thereselves to be helpful and others give you the impression they just don't want to to know !!!
A lot of them won't deal outside of their country even, I often get people that don't want a rare speed part leaving their shores and point blank refuse to deal, I just get one of my American friends to buy it instead !!!
The problem is of course their home market is so huge, they don't really need foreign business at all, at the moment![]()
I bought some from clwyd welding supplies a few yrs ago .
Did you walk in, hand them a big fat roll of notes and say take what you want from it? Currently on 4 phone calls and promises of giving my a price (which I cant seem to get) I think four chances is enough, I mean I expect to be spending a good few hundred but then again they wont even tell me. I mean I would even drive over the 80 miles to collect if they could tell me what they have and the darn cost
