I had to do the above with a Briggs & Stratton it runs fineits good to get them going again if the gap does close up a bodge is to grind a little off the end of the valve if you don't want to spend money getting the valve seats replaced

That is also a good possibilityFrom little engines I've ruined, I'd say either the follower or the collets have raised a burr...
Have a close look, needle file if necessary - just keep the end of the collet slot as square as possible.
