Sometimes it's the little things...
Local mens' shed have a donated "Perform" bandsaw. The guys were complaining that it was well put together but the motor was really weak - bogged down on anything even medium-duty.
The motor is exposed and proudly claims to be 1/3HP and there's a 2/3HP motor under one of the benches...
...you're thinking I changed the motor, right? Well, I was going to until I opened the saw's front cover and saw it has two pulleys, and was on the fastest (least torque) wheel.
Moved it over and now it's slugging through 4" mahogany blanks like they're (well frozen, and quite hard) butter.
We may still swap the motor but it's always worth checking the obvious first!
