The rainfall I experienced in Queensland must have all been in my head…on two occasions….for a total of five weeks
The internet is wrong in saying Cairns has an annual average rainfall of 1995mm a year, mostly in the summer

Fact and now end of conversation. Admit it you dreamt you went but were in your back garden. Rain in far North Queensland in winter is a non event. You saying you you spent 5 weeks in Cairns in winter and it rained every day is the biggest load of bs I’ve ever heard.
I think johnnybravo is talking about a Ural. Well thats what it was called when I bought them into my bike shop in 1976.
650 CC, weighed 650 kilos, did 65 Yaks ??? per hour and cost $650. Optional sidecar was an extra $48.
They did come with a full set of rings, the tools needed to pull whole engine down ( UNLIKE BMW !!! )
a super manual printed in full Cyrilic and I think it was a prayer in Russian Orthodox, but I couldnt read it then, cant now, and dont really care.

When I was in South Africa in January I came across a fleet of these down at the Cape. The Chinese version of the Ural. the CJ750, manufactured by the Chang Jiang company under licence. You can hire these with all of the gear to look like a real hard type, and go on a tour of the Cape, en masse.

Going back late 60’s early 70’s I would think it was, the were one or two Urals running around here. Looked odd as the sidecar was on the wrong side. I seem to remember there was a spare wheel stuck on the back of the sidecar. I don’t think for one minute it was true, but the rumour was that if you looked carefully you could see where the machine gun fitted.

Met a chap riding one in eastern Alsace one Easter. I was stopped by the road trying to make out where I was. We had a brief chat, he looked at my map and then said, unfortunately this road is not on your map. He did direct me to a road that was on my map.
To put an end to the bickering re: the weather in far north queensland.
There is NO rain in winter. Winter is april to november. Well yo MIGHT get a sprinkle on a very rare day.
Really starts to rain proper end of december to end of march. Where I live it used to be about a metre.
With this new shagged out weather we ALL have all over the world, Its dropped in the last few years to about 300 mm for the year.
This year is the wettest in been for probably 15 years. The wet years we had during that time have been the results of cyclones.
