Machine Polisher Pad

Hey guys,im a complete amateur at this, i will be cutting back paint using g3 and a machine polisher would I be right saying that I should start off with a wool pad and finishing with a foam pad?

no use a foam pad and wool last with polish

most foam pads will come in at 3 grades , cutting for getting the shine back and then polish or finish to refine it to a perfect gloss

i know some people that like to use wool to remove polish / wax, i dont personally but down to choice i suppose

some use it for aggressive cutting too

Start with the least aggressive combination of pad & polish and work down from there, stopping when you get the required results.

Don't forget the LSP [last stage protection of either wax or sealant.

also keep the pad damp and dont stay in one spot or you will burn the paint, stay away from any sharp raised profiles and edges, you will be surprised how fast your paint disappears from these areas if you catch them

Ahh OK thanks guy's I'm going to cut with foam pads then after use wool pads for waxing.I'm going to practice on my flat as a fart white transit so any mistakes won't be a killer blow.

Be careful with g3. I've only used it by hand and it cuts really well so be gentle and plenty of water with a machine polisher.

I would be interested in a write up of how you get on. I have thought of buying a machine polisher but the cost of the recommended ones like the Das pro puts me off a bit. The Silverline ones seem OK for the money though.

I bought a silverline silver storm polisher and for what I need the quality is fine, good value. If I used one regular then would invest more money,

Well I know Silverline have a poor reputation for the most part, but I also know that their machine polishers are considered good value for money by lots of the Detailing World guys, including professional detailers who used them before they moved onto the expensive gear.

I've bought G3 and G10 so will test patch g10 first but paint is very flat so won't probably be enough.I'm going for the silverline machine trying this out on the cheap.

good advice. as with most paint preparations, it takes practice and technique to get it right, but is quite easy to get it wrong.
