Machine paint and safety

Following this thread, I liked the look (and price) of this paint;

But then I read the MSDS...

To be fair, that does seem to be a generic MSDS for enamel paints, but reading through that makes me want to move to a country where none of this paint exists is it really as dangerous as the sheet makes out? Can I get away with having the garage door open and wearing rubber gloves?

Just scaremongering which is what the EU are good at so they can justify it to themselves when they go over the top with Health and Safety legislation.

Good suitable mask and the ability to move the fumes off the floor.

I have used Paragon's enamel (they make a Myford grey colour match), and I found it really good - covers well while still being quite thin, and self-levels nicely. I was well impressed with the finish brushing it on.
MSDS sheet? I take them with a pinch of salt - after all it's just a tin of enamel paint and as long as you don't drink it you'll be fine....

Here's an extract from the MSDS for good old WD40:
"....can enter the lungs and may cause chemical pneumonitis, severe lung damage and death"

most data sheets have to cater for idiots doing funny things otherwise its claims direct on your case if your the supplier and the prize nougat is in the money

its all the crap your supposed to read before proceeding to paint 1st thing everyone does is take the lid off and have a sniff even if its 2k hardener

that's correct . use there overpriced thinners that's specified when u can use celly thinners for 5 quid a gallon and it works just as well for quarter of the price

And as celly has Xylene in it you can use it perfectly well.

u can get 5 gallons from ruffoth autojumble for 15 quid .depends if I need a bit whether I buy the 5 galls

I'm interested to hear the cellulose thinners contains xylene - they smell quite different - is it certainly true that use can use cellulose thinners with xylene type paints? If so I imagine it would speed up the drying time considerably.

Not really, only the thinners flashes off and leaves the paint as unthinned, but wet, and to dry out as it was designed to do.
