Yes it will be - it's likely the thermal fuse has suffered a material failure rather than the motor suffering a catastrophic thermal event given that it runs when you bridge the black & brown wires. Don't bother digging it out, just mount a replacement with a slightly lower rating on the outside of the windings..is that the fuse in the recess in the wires I mentioned earlier? I don’t think it’s possible to get it out, I tried earlier. If it isn’t possible to change it does that mean the motor shouldn’t be run again?
Check that connection just had a motor off a Axminster drill, the windings were alloy the multi strand was copper or tinned copper. This is the continuation of a thread I already had going but I think it might have closed. I’am not sure how it works, so I thought I would start this new one just in case.
I have been trying to locate a blown thermal fuse in an electric motor. Today I removed the heat resistant sleeving from a brown wire and a black wire which were tied to the winding. I was expecting to find the fuse there but instead two further wires branch of from them and go down into the winding. I think the fuse must be down there but I don’t know how to get to it. I did suggest the same thing in the other thread about this motorDon't bother digging it out, just mount a replacement with a slightly lower rating on the outside of the windings
