Machine Mart welding electrodes, aka rods.

Needed some for work, normally get from toolstation, but as I was passing Machine Marts door thought why not, I mean a 3.2mm 6013 rod is a 3.2mm 6013 rod surely?

Two weeks later finally open the packet to find a box full of 1.6mm rods, popped second packet and exactly the same, down tools and curse a lot!

My first thoughts to, 3.18mm which is close enough, my initial thoughts were some numpty had been given the job and did not realise the flux does not count.
I am old enough to remember them being 1/8 rods.

CL electrodes
Sounds like cellulose... And they have a very thin flux coating.
So wouldn't be unlikely they might actually be E6010 or E6011

Sorry. But the CL stands for CLARKE. and they are 6013 rods
TBH I've never sold a pack that has come back as the wrong size. Just take them back for an exchange

I've misread the part you said they were 1.6mm rods sorry my bad.
Anyways pretty useless stuff, never been able to do anything with this size

In there today, all swapped no issues, manager said he had not see that issue before, see what they weld like next week.

I've used 1.6 on sheet metal, bodywork and thin walled pipe.
