1mu from Machine-DRO ( aka Allendale)That’s a neat solution, what encoder are you using?
I did something very similar to this on my Colchester Bantam - magnetic scale and ballscrew. Very simple and neat, although some would say it was sacrilegious to machine the saddle and cross slide.
Beware of the myriad holes and fixings on the top of the cross slide. Being magnetic, these scales attract steel swarf, at which point you start to lose position. In my case, LinuxCNC flags up a position error (difference between commanded position and reported position). Equally, the ballscrew won't appreciate steel dust in its innards. For my Z axis I have some Chinesium telescopic covers to keep the crud away from the ballscrew.
thanks for the replyMany apologies for not spotting this reply. I got mine from an Aliexpress store. They needed a good clean and are no more than the basic telescopic elements but they were what I expected.
