Lorch Schmidt lathe 1925

dug out my old Lorch Schmidt lathe today and wondered what its worth, worked fine when in use , although i always wanted to restore her to former glory.

havent had the need for a Lathe in the last 5 years , although might look at a myford in the future ....
whats it worth ?

believe it to be a 1925 model.

Not being funny, but it's worth what you can get someone to pay for it. Why not 'Bay it with no reserve and see what the market thinks?

cant see it being worht much unless you find someone that collects old machine tools. with its lack of precise longditudinal feed (apart from the compund slide) it may not sell to anyone that is actively looking for a lathe to use everyday

I could make nice Christmas restoration/scraping job of that though I haven't any use for the machine itself. The bed's been heavily rusted at some point as evidenced by the pitted bed and crownwheels so there's quite a lot of work in it to bring it back to pristine.

Ebay would be the best gauge of price for that. It's a plain lathe, but of good stock. The mere name will generate some interest, and they tend to command better prices than similar or better kit just due to the name. A bit like Myford. Plus it's small, which is a desirable quality for some. Doubt it would go for silly money mind, but just check the completed listings on Ebay to gauge.

Well she went for 75squid was hoping for more but hey how. Have found a very nice myford ml7 to replace it with!

Thanks Gaz, yes cheap in my eyes £450 im assured its in top condition
But ill be checking before i hand over the readies !
