I heard similar to you about the Kemppi 250A machine...I have the Kemppi evo200 and was looking to upgrade to their 250A machine until someone on here told me they were rubbish...dodged a bullet there I think!

Paton is built in Ukraine I think?...I got the power supply on here (does MMA/DC TIG/MIG) ....I managed to grab a cheap wire feed on eBay so my setup was a bit of a bargain as I recall....I bought the Paton for a project that never happened so not used the MIG yet but the stick was really good and it's solid built (no cheap nasty cables/cases!)

I've just had a look they are made in Ukraine and Poland I think just wonder what it would be like to get parts for the ones built in Ukraine with all that's going on there at the minute

Lorch MPro252 a great bit of kit but it's a transformer machine so might be a bit thirsty on the electric unless you're on a cheap tariff.

I don't think any of the MIG/MAG inverters in the Lorch range are single phase unfortunately.

Fronius Transteel might be single phase.

Bohler/Selco 220 could be a good choice. Italian machine.

I know they can be but I prefer migs to be transformer based and stick and tig as inverters I did have a look at the transteel but it only takes 200mm spools and I want something that takes 300mm

make a cart and bung a bigger roll of wire on that ,,, drill a hole in the back of the case ,,, jobs a good un ,,, and if you want to take it any where use the small reel of wire.

Hi , well in my opinion you have to consider that at the moment you have to purchase also other equipment , so yes for a welder but you will need soon some grinders , drill press , a work table ? , and others .
So I think you should find something reliable but not so expensive .

Selcos are great machines , but damn expensive , same for Ewn and Fronius .

I can suggest Cebora , good machines , reliable , not too expensive , easy to be used .
Another good italian brand is Weco , but don't if there dealers in Uk right now .

Good luck , my dad did the same in the past : he was employed in a big mechanical shop as general director , but when he got me and my brother the money was never enough , so he started a metal welding home-garage job ( gates , rails , stairs ) . And now we do have our own shop with some great machines and new others coming soon ( it's a father and son company ) and the last piece we sent out was 7 meters long and 1500 kilos heavy ( a big machine frame )

I've got grinders as I use my own for work I made workbench myself and ive ordered a drill press and MAG for drilling beams I do quite a bit of sidework on site with stick and tig already but for doing plates onto the beams in the workshop and prefaced balconys and railings would be so much better and quicker to buzz through with the mig and its less cleaning ill have a look at the ceboras now though ive not heard of weco before and I've just made something at similar work was 4f by 8ft beam frame for a glamping pod to sit on just sent it off for galvanising gonna have fun fitting in on the side of a bank next week

I didnt even think of that but I don't think I'd be able to sleep at night paying that much for a fronius and drilling a hole in it

It's a shame they do it that way or it would be perfect if they removed the separate holder for 5he 100mm spool ya could easily fit a 300mm spool where the 200 goes

Whats the control pro like to use mate?

I bought it as a bit of a toy really and have only used the Control Pro a few times to weld up 1.2mm thickness but it is really nice to use as just dial in the thickness and weld away. The main selling points for Lorch for me is the industrial build quality. The old 2060 still looks like new despite being stored for ten years a stone‘s throw from the sea (galvanised and powered coated body) and being hooked up on a car ramp and falling a metre or so onto the floor.
I did look at the Kemppi with the colour screen and Fronius too but Lorch seemed like it would outlive them in my eyes anyway.

I was told a couple of months ago a new version was just about to be released ,, digi front end , but not seen it yet.
