Looking for new mig ,for my Vw resto ,couple ?'s

Hi all ,Ive decided to tackle the small amount of welding on my 69 vw panel van as I figure the cost at a garage will be around £600 which I don't really have .I haven't welded for 20 years but I used to work in a garage and weld to a good standard every day until I changed professions .
I'm looking at not spending more than about £360. And less if poss .Im only probably going to ever weld car body work but want a good enough mig to do a good job and be reliable .I thought about the Sealey 180 supermig but then noticed a few on here praising the GYS162 ? Though I think I'd have to spend more on a regulator as im not sure if it comes with one .
Any help would be great cheers

what kind of gas bottles are you planning to use? And how long will the resto take? If you haven't budgeted for gas or you are trying to get the whole welding setup for £360 you will struggle.

Hi there isn't much welding .Only two jacking points and about 8 other bits of plating . I want to ideally use the gas mix bottles you can buy from machine mart as I thought it might be the most cost effective way as I only have a small amount to do . I just want a welder that will enable a good job and isn't a fuss to use .
So what would be best as it looks as if the GYS is only non disposable gas bottles ?

No you can swap from one gas to the other but you'll need adapters and a disposable bottle reg, but your best bet is to buy a rent free gas bottle then return it within 6 months for a 70% return on your purchase price of the cylinder.
You'll get through a lot of disposables even on a relatively small project.

You could do the prep and any fabrication,
then get a mobile welder to weld it up..
Probably less hassle...

I have a pair of early bay doors going spare, the ones with the locks in the handle, not the golf tees on the top. There a bit rusty but could be salvaged probably. PM me if you or anyone else needs them.

Recon I'm going to buy a welder as it's probably easier for me to do it bit by bit but still not 100% on what to get . Chap at weld equip who was very helpful said a 130a welder would be enough although I defo wasn't to weld with gas so not sure how much it is to convert the gas/gasless ones. . Is it just a case of getting a regulator . Then of coarse you need a gas stand on the welder if going for refillable which makes me think the
GYS 162 is a good little bit of kit though might be a little over kill ?
