Scrap yard Trowbridge had a few in today.

scrappies tend to charge the price you can get a new one for round our way. daughter got a new 10 foot one for 75 quid

Last one I was involved in, the cost was:
Scrap value, plus 10%.

But would rise to 20% if you were not a regular in the yard.

Try Dyfed Steels, think theres a branch in Bristol... or Pulham Steels, a bit out of your way, but always in and around Bristol.
6050 is virtually a full stock length.

There is a heap of very long steels in the yard, does it need to be that small or will a bigger section do?

What that size, have you had calculations done

6100 is a stock length. Beams of that size will always be S355 grade

Unlikely you would find one of that length at the scrappies. Ring round the stockholders. if you can just take a stock length of 6100 it will make it a bit cheaper.

Have you noticed that half the time when you order 6.1s, they have a clean saw cut where theyve cut it from 12.2s

Punch in structural steel Bristol into google and call your way down the list to get an idea of prices then pick one.

Can't see there's going to be massive price differences between them, don't forget to ask re delivery.

I've bought a few emergency pieces now and again from both.

It's not a popular size in the 152 x 152 series, 23kg and 30kg are the common ones.
But give them a try.
Where abouts in Bristol are you ?
