Hey so before I go taking on some repair work on my car I decided to practice on some 0.8mm and a Yaris wing I picked up from a local breakers.
I'm running 0.8mm wire on a Sealey Supermig 150 with a wire speed of 2.4 (I have 0.6mm here if you think I should change to that) and my setting is one 1 MIN.
The first pics are of a small section of 0.8mm that I butt welded
Very messy I know but I wanted to ask here he second picture shows very little penetration is this an issue? I ended up welding it from the other side and then brought both sides down with a flap disk
Next up I had a go at welding two pieces together at a 90 degree angle, tacking them into place before doing lots of little spot welds and then trying to join them with small sections of seam weld.
After this pass it was very patchy so I gave it another go?
Is the weld reliant on the first pass being smooth? To not have these gaps do I just really have to overlap the spot welds one by one the bead just seems so small and I'm concerned about the penetration.
