Looking for advice on how to fix car exhaust

Hi,
If you look at the picture you can see that the links have broken that connects the silver protector to the rest of the exhaust. These links are quite rusty and I just have a MIG welder.

Would it be possible to repair these somehow?

Its a heat shield, take it off or weld it back on up to yourself. A lot of exhuast places will just take them off rather than weld them back on

Is the car a Nissan?
Exhaust looks the same as my dads crappy Primera and which has also failed in exactly the same place as yours has.
