Looking for a MIG welder for car repairs

Hi, I'm looking for a welder which I can use to do bodywork repairs on a car of mine. Which makes/models should I be looking at? I don't want to spend a huge amount of money, I'll probably try to get one second hand, otherwise I could just pay a pro to do it all for me

I've been looking at the Cebora pocket turbo 130, what do people think of those?

hi ya..
it all really depends on your budget to be honest...you pay for what you get in the machine world...the more you pay the better the machine...not to say you cant do the same thing with lower budget welder...i dont no a great deal about the seally or clarke machines...but if you want good i would look at the likes of miller or lincoln or oerlikon.....hope this helps...

The Cebora is ok I have had one for about 20 years, it's fine for car body work and has a reasonable duty cycle.

Thanks, is there a minimum welding current I should be looking for?

Does anyone know much about these welders?

I assume they are not very good as they are cheap, and don't appear to have any branding on them.

£145 of trouble methinks. Spec says 40 to 195A within 4 settings, I doubt it with a 13A plug fitted and that welding clamp would burst into flames at 195A. 40A is not low enough for sheet metal work, you want 30 or less.

i use a clarke 90 , works fine for diy on car bodys - as long as you understand it wont weld battleship thickness stuff

Is Clarke a decent brand then? There is a 120 and a 150 fairly close to me that I am keeping an eye on.

There is a 135 TE Turbo, a 150 TE Turbo and a 120 E.

clarke was reccomended on here when i was looking - not top of the line quality more of its best of the budget end , my 90 goes nice and low for think stuff

Any more ideas on which Clarke's to avoid? Also is there any difference between the same models in red or blue? Just age rather than anything technical?
