Looking at lifts

I thought I'd get a scissor lift but it appears full height lift ones are more expensive that 2 post lifts.

Ideally want spares/backup - most of the lifts appear to Chinese now, but spare parts is still a good idea

I don't need to lift anything above 3.5t

Could be 3 phase but prefer it not requiring an air connection, that's a pain in the butt.

Anyone got any advice? Anyone got a lift from these guys?

Had some dealings with Chinese lifts couple of people I know have them.
They work but on all 3 we have had fast wear on pulleys, no bushes in alloy wheels and axles worn, no way to grease.
Simple repair but annoying, remove pin and wheels bore existing wheels and fit bushes, new pin from decent ground bar and drill for grease nipple ream bushes to size.
I think I got bushes from Bearing Boys

These are Hyd as well pull cables round the pulleys dont look as heavy a build though
There is /are a co that does bespoke cables for lifts send a pattern they make and warranty.

We worked on cars with 4 post lifts for a lot of years Bradbury did a lift with a second deck and Laycock did one with 4 hyd cylinders that you could operate independently and move about the turned up inside of deck or on trolley/s the boys loved them

ive fitted and worked on 4 posts doing those jobs just by using acrow stands under the vehicle on a 4 post lift they come in handy

Interesting. I think it will be a case of taking a punt and seeing how I get on.

you can , just a different way of thinking ,,,, but things like dropping a front cradle becomes a pits ,,, both 2 and 4 posts have advantages and disadvantages but I wouldnt buy a 4 post without wheels free system

last place I was in ad two lifts from the same company and same make , both 4 tonners but two totally different machines ,, in the end the second one got sent back as the lower profile arms were bending and that was only on discoverys , they are heavier than range rovers , but still just under two and a half ton , so unless you really need low profile arms , stay away from them.

Ive been using 2 post lifts for nearly 50 years (1978) , never felt the need for additional supports. A transmission jack or two for dropping subframes , supporting engines while removing transmissions , that’s it! Certain vehicles should never be on a 2 poster!

I’ve had my Twin Busch 2 post lift for about 3 years now, 4.2 Ton max weight
Been very pleased with it, big company with good spares back up

What's your floor like?

Two posts need a decent lump of concrete to screw them to, as there is more of a danger of them being tipped over.
It goes without saying you do have to be quite careful how you load them - some hilarious clips exist of people removing heavy components off one end of a vehicle, changing the balance with predictable results.

I bought a scissor lift from Automotech, along with some other equipment - they were very good to deal with, that was a few years ago now.

I have a scissor lift from them, and a 30T press and a set of tracking gauges,
I had something go in the control board for the lift, they were really helpful and had a new board sent out pretty quick!
Nice to speak to a human, in this country even!

I would certainly recommend them!
