Longer MIG torch, Binzel or Parweld?

The 3m Parweld MB15 torch that came with my Portamig 185 many moons ago is too short by at least a meter and I'm bored of wheeling the MIG into tight spaces. So I'm thinking of moving up to a 5m torch.

The forum sponsors sell both Parweld and Binzel MB15 torches, at 5m there's over £20 difference in price before VAT. I'm happy with my current Parweld torch but wondered if the Binzel is just as good and save myself over £20.

@Tom Orrow L is there much difference if torch/liner quality between the two? Any other differences?

Anybody tried both and have have a preference?

Thanks for the order! I’d have pointed you in the direction of Binzel, for sure. The only reason the Parweld is more expensive is because we don’t sell as many because they’re not as good so we don’t have as much buying power.

I nearly talked myself into trying to buy a new inverter mig with a 5m torch, but no matter how I tried to justify it, I failed. However I haven't been on the homebrew today yet, you get a completely different perspective after a couple of bottles of 5.7% brown ale!

Don't know about the MB15 torches but I've got a 5m 400amp parweld Bernard torch and it's brilliant the contact tips last for rolls of wire and the shroud must be 5 years old.

Here's a visual comparison of my two MB15 torches.
A generic £30 job, as supplied with most new sub £800 MIGs ( inc. recently a new Oxford @MysterG )
Vs. an older Binzel. Which has a softer feel trigger, a shallower swan neck angle and is just less cheap looking on the plastics.
Performance wise, there's nothing in it, as it's a simple 'switch'.

Funny you say that. My parweld is still going strong after 8 years use, where the binzel at the place I sub for is trashed after only 3 years. Both pretty much only used by me, both on similar machines (parweld on my newarc rm2500 and then my jasic 270,the binzel on a jasic 250).

I prefer Binzel personally. They just feel natural to use. The evo pro models have a lighter cable which is nice. I'd stay away from their cheapest offerings which I think are discontinued and stick to the "grip", "evo" and "evo pro"

The Abimig range is a step up in quality again.

Strange that, majority of our customers have the opposite experience.

I suppose there's a lot of things to factor in. I'm not saying Parweld are bad, they're good; I just prefer the quality of the Binzel torches.
