Ive broke the whipstick (pitman shaft) on my international harvester B23 finger bar mower, its wooden, anyone know where I can get one or would anyone have one I could buy. I know its a long shot but if you don't ask you don't get

We used to buy pitman wood from a company called Jack Ashurst ltd.
I do not know if the company still exists!
Maybe look up the irish breakaway from the above company. They became McHugh & Kramp ltd and are now known as McHugh Components based in Tallagh, Dublin. May be worth a call

that's it octo, theres a hole drilled through the centre at the end of the shaft to house a spring. Could be made but will take some time.
Im hoping to get a ready made one but may have no alternative and just make one

Something like ash may be better.
From memory hardwood would just snap off.
Our local sawmill man made them for us in our pre IH main dealer days, and I vaugly remember him saying something about hardwood being a problem. Just cannot remember what wood he recommended to use.

No help with original problem, though.

Ash is the way to go as it has a bit of "flex" in it. Used to be used in the framing on old horse drawn carriages and for that matter still is on some Morgan cars!

Give McHugh components a ring Tom but they no longer do them
