Long Arm Hydraulic Arm

Hi guys,

Basically, I need to replace the ram on an engine hoist.

I've found the following;

BUT, it's in the USA, and shipping is simply far too expensive. Are there any suppliers that can match this sort of price in the UK at all? Not specifically after an 8T model, 2T would be plenty!!

Mt 2T hoist uses an 8T ram. There is a 4X to 16X multiplier of the load in the arm depending on how far it is extended.

A 2T ram would only lift 1000lbs in the shortest arm length. Even less when arm is extended (down to 250 lbs).

lots of people in scuni that repair rams have a look round your area try local pirtec they make hoses so would likely know who repairs rams

I got mine from sealey though my local Bennets 2 ton one was about £30 from memory

what's exactly bust on the original ram? i woul dhave thought it's usually only the seals that go on them.

I replaced the seals on my car lift ram and they were only about £15iirc and proabbly took an hour max to swap over

The hoist was purchased very cheaply from an aution house in a lot of other equipment, the ram is actually bent in 2 directions and doesn't retract fully. Hence seeking a replacement, and unfortunately the only ones that are big enough seem to be from the USA on google.

Tempted to chuck it out, as it can only have cost £10 so will probably end up with £5 back in scrap weight.

Hydraulic repair/service bods are dab hands at straightening bent hydraulic rams; it's an everyday task for them.
